Hello All,
I am A Barbarian is now ready for reading!
Blurb:
At fourteen, Delta has crossed half the continent and braved innumerable trials alongside her nomadic family. But her toughest challenge still lies ahead. Tasked with attending a sorcery academy in the far-flung city of Samarzal, she must first survive the perilous journey there.
With her uncle and cousin, she joins a caravan that ventures onto the notorious Forsaken Road, a treacherous path plagued by hungry demons, evil necromancers, and murderous locals.
Not all is darkness, though. Bonds of friendship are forged along the journey, but some travellers harbour secrets darker than the Forsaken Road. Would Delta's resolve and newfound allies be enough for her to complete her journey?
Delta is no princess or kickass heroine with flowing skirts. Just a girl from the plains, coming of age in a brutal, fascinating world. This is a story of grit, resilience, and growing up under unforgiving stars.
The Forsaken Road beckons. Walk it if you dare.
A word of caution, though. As the blurb says, this is not about a princess, nor our usual kickass heroine. This might be fantasy, but I tried to make characters think the way the were really thinking in an ancient, pagan world. Children are working and given responsabilities. Puberty comes later. Family pressure is overwhelming. Violence is part of life. However, this is not the violence and desperation porn you find in dark fantasy. Dark fantasy tries very hard to show how bad the characters are, often in a very christian perspective (redemption or damnation). At some point, this becomes rather boring and cliché. I don’t try to show anything, only good fun.
Since you all have very diverse channels for buying and reading ebooks, I decided to release I Am A Barbarian in stages across different platforms.
First, you can buy it directly from me at Gumroad for the launch price of 1.99$. There, you can also get Experimental Magics and Narrow Mountain.
Otherwise, you can get it from other online bookshops for 2.50$. In four days, I will put in on Amazon KU.
BTW, for those who have missed some of my free short stories, Midnight Flowers and The Red Cap, you can read them on Substack as separate posts.
Till next time!
