Hello All,
With Covid waning away (at least temporarily), I went to a few exhibitions. Today, I'll show you a bit of the "Treasures of Peru". It was advertized as being about "Machu Piccu and the Incas" which was probably a way to sell it. I don't know much about South Amercian cultures, but I understand most of what was on display was Mochica, and much older than the Icas. Nevertheless, exhibitions of South America are rare enough to get me running.
I suppose when those vases were found, they were either smashed immediately, either tucked away into the darkest recess of some museum and never spoked about. Hard in Western culture to make sense of ancestors actually copulating to create the world! Would you keep such vases for storing wine or water? Would you remember where you came from each time you drink?
BTW, the exhibition was perfectly allowed for under-18 and there were actually quite a few young kids.Â
Part of the exhibition was dedicated to the quest of Aï Apaec, who went searching for the sun, through the sea, to the world of the deads and to be reborn. A good idea for a fantasy novel, if you can properly make sense of the concepts used by those people.
There was a lot about human sacrifice. Interestingly, you were more likely to be sacrificed if you were a noble warrior rather than a peasant unworthy to feed the gods!
There were also displays of priests/rulers ceremonial gold jewelery which gave me immediately a few ideas.Â
And what about this fabric made of bird feathers?
You can just imagine a world with carefully cultivated terraced fields and long winding roads stretching from high mountains into the jungle... A world were owls, crabs, jaguars, pufferfishes and strombus snails were sacred beasts...Â
And now, some sales and giveaways:

I think that’s enough for today!
In the meantime, take care and stay safe.
